Heather Knight, the former captain of England’s women’s cricket team, has announced her retirement from international cricket. This decision marks the end of an illustrious 16-year career, with her final appearance in the ongoing women’s Test against India at Lord’s. Knight’s retirement concludes a chapter that began in 2010 and saw her become England’s most-capped women’s international player, boasting 320 appearances.
Knight’s tenure as captain from 2016 to 2025 was marked by significant achievements, most notably leading England to victory in the Women’s World Cup held on home soil in 2017. Her prowess on the field was further underscored when she became the first English cricketer to score a century in all three international formats, achieving a T20I hundred in 2020. By the time she entered her final Test, Knight had amassed a total of 7,988 international runs.
Reflecting on her career, Knight expressed gratitude for the chance to represent her country and described the England dressing room as a constant part of her life for 16 years.
