After nearly 17 years, a sequel to the cult classic horror-comedy “Jennifer’s Body” is reportedly in the works, with production anticipated to kick off in Vancouver by October 2026. Although the studio has yet to make an official declaration, industry reports suggest that Megan Fox is poised to return as Jennifer Check, the film’s central character. The original film’s creative team, writer Diablo Cody and director Karyn Kusama, are also expected to reunite for this much-anticipated continuation.

While a specific release date has not been confirmed, the potential timeline indicates that the sequel could hit theaters by late 2027, assuming filming proceeds as scheduled. The storyline for the upcoming film remains a closely guarded secret. However, director Karyn Kusama has hinted that the sequel will capture the same “fun and crazy” essence that made the original film a favorite among fans. Likewise, Diablo Cody has shown excitement about revisiting the horror-comedy genre that earned the first film its cult status over time.

Amanda Seyfried, who played the role of Anita “Needy” Lesnicki in the 2009 film, has not yet been officially announced to join the sequel. Despite the lack of confirmation, Seyfried has previously alluded to the possibility of a follow-up film and expressed interest in participating, particularly if Megan Fox is involved in the project.

The original “Jennifer’s Body,” released in 2009, tells the story of a high school cheerleader, Jennifer Check, who turns into a malevolent force after a satanic ritual goes awry. She subsequently begins targeting her classmates. The film did not perform well at the box office initially but has since gained a dedicated following, particularly among horror aficionados, solidifying its status as a cult favorite.
